The WisHome LED night light is larger than most night lights. It has a circular shape with a fairly large diameter and with a torus-shaped light diffuser around the outside with a light sensor center mounted at the bottom and what looks like a two-pin outlet located in the middle. The sockets are actually standard type A USB ports that give out a 2.1 amp current. That’s enough to charge most devices at a pretty decent clip. The highest rated USB chargers are 2.4 amps so this is pretty decent dual port you can use to charge two things at once and powerful enough to charge devices with larger capacity batteries like tablets and medium size Bluetooth speakers.
Initially, I was a little taken aback by the diameter of the lamp. I worried that it would cover both AC wall outlets in a standard two outlet wall plate. Fortunately, it is shaped a bit like a mushroom and offset with a stalk that allows some clearance for smaller 2 prong plugs and low profile 3 prong plugs.
The controls are simple. You have on/off or auto, which is fairly self-explanatory. Unlike most lights which only have the on and off settings, this one varies the brightness of the light depending on how dark it is. It’s pretty sensitive. In a semi-lit room, if you move around, the light will vary from very dim to full bright if you cast a shadow over the sensor. It reacts quickly which is quite fun.
My wife and I both like the light. To be honest, we weren’t sure we would when we first got it. it was a bit bigger than we expected. But it still allows two plugs in an outlest (only just) and reacts to the darkness very nicely. It’s bright enough to light a small room like our kitchen so you can navigate in it and it charges two devices simultaneously. With all the mobile electronics out there these days, you can never have enough USB charging ports. So we are very happy with it indeed.
